Android Operating System is the Future of Mobile Computing and Smartphones

0
William Grant asked:

Android Phones

The new Android phones are phones that operate on the Linux Kernal mobile operating System. It was developed by Android Inc, and later purchased by Google. This system enables developers to write managed codes in the java language and control the device with Google developed Java libraries.

The Android Phones are the phones of the future because they combine the ultimate advances in mobile phones, video, cameras, PC’s and Navigation systems with multiple applications. The Phase development of the Android Phones started with the first model that had bugs and poor documentation, this was first introduced with the Sake Game-Android Development Phone. Next came the Android SDK it had a debugger, libraries, documentation, and tutorials. The final droid was the Android OS-Donut which added supports like voice search, priced applications and Gmail freeze fixes.

The Android OS system is important in this new system because it allows third party developers to create their own screen widgets. This allows for more applications and more opportunities for the manufacturer. The new Android Phones are being made by Google, Motorola, and HTC, LG, Dell and others breaking into the Smartphone market. The technology that it promises is ground breaking. The Android system acts like a robot, the user tells it what to do and it does it with supposed lightening speed.

The new Android Phones are basically bringing the desktop to the mobile phones. It allows for emailing, instant messaging, and web browsing all at the same time. It can run applications in the background while the user goes to a social network site. It also allows the user to listen to music and write an email at the same time, while talking on the phone. The possibilities are endless; the Android system allows several applications to run at the same time, just as a computer with windows does.

There are thousand of applications available for the Android phones and more are becoming available everyday. With the apps and the ability to multitask without having to shut down one act to do another is the new age of the mobile phones thanks to Goggles Android system. The new Android 2.0 is the latest in the line of Android systems to hit the market. The capabilities and promises are coming true very quickly as 2.0.1 stands ready for release.

Many people enjoy using the Android Phones already and sales have been phenomenal. Everyone wants a system that acts like a PC but is really a phone with all of the capabilities. The technology has just begun and there is more to come.

Notebook Display: WXGA, WSXGA or WUXGA?

0
Tim Childree asked:

When buying a widescreen notebook, it can be a bit confusing to pick the right LCD. Generally, you are given a choice between WXGA, WSXGA and WUXGA notebook displays. What are these and which do you choose?

WXGA, WSXGA and WUXGA

The above acronyms are resolution standards for television and computer monitors. All of them refer to widescreen display standards: WXGA stands for Widescreen Extended Graphics Array; WSXGA for Widescreen Super Extended Graphics Array; and WUXGA for Widescreen Ultra Extended Graphics Array.

WXGA, WSXGA and WUXGA are not the only display standards for screen displays, but they are the most common in notebook computers. True to widescreen standards, all three of these have an aspect ratio in the range of 16/9 to 16/10. They mainly differ in their resolution (the number of pixels they can display on screen).

While all widescreen displays can use resolutions lower than their rated display, they provide the best image at their native resolution, which is also their maximum resolution. Keep in mind that a lower resolution is much easier on the eyes, so you will want to go with a native resolution that does not leave you squinting at the screen in your day-to-day use.

WXGA has a 1366×768 resolution, an aspect ratio of 16/9. WSXGA boasts a greater resolution at 1680×1050 and an aspect ratio of 16/10. WUXGA uses a resolution of 1920×1200 at an aspect ratio of 16/10.

What to Pick?

If you are buying a notebook computer for gaming purposes, you probably want a WUXGA screen for the sharpest image. If you are an HDTV subscriber and you plan to use your notebook computer as an HDTV receiver, WUXGA gives the very highest resolution available. WUXGA is also great for watching movies and viewing digital images due to the sharp rendering of images and pictures.

WUXGA is very convenient for multi-tasking, provided you can handle the small display size. This is perfect for working on two documents or web pages side-by-side, which can enhance productivity.

A WUXGA LCD can display greater amounts of detail than both WXGA and WSXGA, so you can see on the screen. This is not to say that WXGA and WSXGA have nothing to recommend them. In fact, WUXGA is not for everyone.

If the notebook computer does not have a powerful mobile GPU and a 17-inch or larger LCD, high-resolution gaming potential will be more difficult, as it takes a high-end GPU to push modern games to 1920×1200 resolutions. As mentioned, customers with less than excellent vision are better off choosing WXGA to get the largest text display. If you want a notebook display with medium-sized text, sharp images, and less than 17 inches of physical screen size, WSXGA is a good compromise, and the 1680×1050 resolution is nothing to sneeze at, by any means.

King Kong asked:

In fact, “Laptop” and “Video Editing” wouldn’t go together as laptop graphics were normally onboard and use shared memory that has limited capacity. Recent breakthrough by NVIDIA and ATI’s high end technology have made it possible to fit video editing cards into PCIe slots of laptops that has made laptops quite competitive in comparison to desktops.

HP (Hewlett-Packard) has achieved a great feat by launching Mobile Workstation series that can deliver similar results which a high end desktop delivers. HP developed its DreamColor technology at SIGGRAPH 2008, to stay even with technology innovation and offers its consumers with able workstations which are specifically required. This technological evolution of HP’s mobile workstations has bridged the gap between a laptop’s utility and the new generation of visual computing consumers.

HP EliteBook 8530W is one of such latest mobile workstation series that is loaded with following features like:

Intel Core 2 Duo processor NVIDIA Quadro FX 770M – 512 MB Energy Star qualified 8-cell (73 WHr) Lithium-Ion

The HP EliteBook 8530W has replaced the 8510W model in the market. If you still have 8510W models in your office, then my recommendation is to go for an upgradation.

Internally, the 8530W model has an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T9400 (2.53 GHz, 6 MB L2 cache, and 1066 MHz FSB). The chipset is too loaded with powerful Mobile Intel PM45 Express Chipset ICH9M. There are two memory sockets; one socket ships with a 4GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM stick and the second socket can be used to upgrade the memory status up to 8GB. The graphics card in an HP EliteBook 8530W Mobile Workstation is a NVIDIA Quadro FX 770M. Here follows the detailed product specification of HP EliteBook 8530W Mobile Workstation:

The Story of Google Mobile

0
Rex Camposagrado asked:

With the desktop PC receding as the basic hardware for connecting users to the web, many equations are changing. For Google Inc. (GOOG – Analyst Report), which has dominated the search market on the desktop platform for awhile now, this could be regarded as a threat to its leadership position. Many top market research points to the fact that mobile platforms will overtake the PC over the next few years. Evidence of this is the already elevated growth rates for mobile computing devices and cell phones.

Google’s competition for search market share primarily comes from Microsoft Corp. (MSFT – Analyst Report) and Yahoo Inc. (YHOO – Analyst Report), although local companies such as Baidu (BIDU – Snapshot Report) in China add to the competition. A new entrant in the space is Apple Inc. (AAPL – Analyst Report), which has recently made investments and initiated data collection actions that indicate its growing interest.

In the mobile connected hardware market, which includes devices such as cell phones, notebooks, netbooks and other mobile Internet products, the major players with most of the recent success include Apple, Research in Motion (RIMM – Snapshot Report) and Hewlett Packard Co. (HPQ – Analyst Report). Nokia Corp. (NOK – Analyst Report) is also a big contender, although the company is currently going through a bad stretch.

The thing that enables the hardware to operate and connect to the Internet is software, principally the operating systems (OS) of the devices that were created by Apple, Research in Motion, Microsoft, Symbian and now Google. Therefore, control of the operating system market is one way of getting to the search market and this is the strategy Google is currently employing.

Google has taken all possible measures to expand Android-based devices and it now appears that Android will outgrow all other contemporary operating systems both in the U.S. and abroad.

The company also has its own cell phone (Nexus One) and is planning an Android-based netbook to be manufactured by Acer. However, these devices are more likely to be used to show off Google’s software and we don’t expect the company to focus on hardware sales. There are two reasons for this. First, selling hardware is a deviation from Google’s core competency and second, Google’s ad serving business is much more profitable.

So instead Google continues to focus on search, having acquired AdMob recently to bolster its mobile search expertise. It also continues to introduce faster and better versions of Android that could attract more buyers. Now if Google attempts to pre-install the new Chrome browser on Android devices, it could more straightforwardly direct users to its search and other web services.

Additionally, in line with an EU ruling in December 2009, Microsoft will have to offer users a choice of browsers, which is another opportunity for Google to offer its new Chrome browser.

While Google’s execution has been particularly good, the company has also had its share of negative publicity. Therefore, although we are increasingly positive about its prospects, we are reiterating our Neutral rating and short term Hold recommendation, which is the equivalent of a Zacks #3 Rank.

Future Designer laptop – ROLLTOP //Diploma Thesis//

orkinful asked:

www.orkin-design.de The device of the flexible display allows a new concept in notebook design growing out of the traditional bookformed laptop into unfurling and convolving portable computer. By virtue of the OLED-Display technology and a multi touch screen the utility of a laptop computer with its weight of a mini-notebook and screen size of 13 inch easily transforms into the graphics tablet, which with its 17-inch flat screen can be also used as a primary monitor. On top of everything else all computer utilities from power supply through the holding belt to an interactive pen are integrated in Rolltop. This is really an all-in-one gadget. Advantage of Mobile Broadband

0
Hamza Ejaz asked:

If you thought the realm of the Internet is merely limited to your home or office computers then you are in for a huge surprise. Thanks to the humongous advances in technology; mobile broadband has made possible instant web access at your computers and laptops no matter where you are.

Mobile broadband, in actual, is not limited by physical layer restrictions. This means that you can easily access the Internet without any tangled web of wires or cables. All you need is a subscription to a mobile broadband service provider and a plug-in USB modem provided by them. This device, which is most typically called the “dongle”, is your key to high-speed Internet access. Even though USB modems are the most commonly used dongles; a few service providers also provide mobile data cards for the purpose.

If you wish to experience the true power of a mobile broadband then it is crucially important to have a good mobile set. Any limitations or issues with your mobile handset might result in an inefficient broadband connection. The reason for this is that if the mobile handset is incapable of receiving and delivering signals free from attenuation; the chances of this limitation affecting the broadband speed are also high.

The biggest advantage of broadband is its ability to give instant Internet connection even in remote areas. While many people would argue that they are able to connect to the web even with a Wi-Fi connection on their laptops- the connection will only be possible if you are within the range of a Wi-Fi hotspot. This explains why most Wi-Fi users find themselves to be short of Internet connectivity in remote areas or locations. Interestingly the advantages of mobile broadband are so high that this technology has very successfully dominated the scope of Wi-Fi.

Mobile broadband may cost you a little extra for roaming if you are using it in places other than UK. In addition, the speed of this technology also depends highly on your city. When mobile broadband was first introduced, their prices and ratings were too high for many. However, with time, as more and more customers found the idea of easy and instant web excess in almost every location; the increased competitions lead to affordable prices.

In fact, the idea of broadband has come to be so popular that quite a few laptop manufacturers provide free mobile broadband in their latest laptop models.
The use of mobile broadband has and is likely to witness in the near future a great boom in its usage owing to the advent of 3G (third generation) mobile phones. This mobile technology is way faster than its preceding versions and allows greater bandwidth utilization.
