How to Upgrade your Laptop Memory

hello, i have the same exact laptop. i need a bigger ram. is there a certain type of ram i need? like are there types of ram that wont work on other computers? which would i need?

Will upgrading from 3gb of ram to 6gb be worth it? I think I only have two memory slots though so is it even possible. And i’m also running a 32-bit processor with an AMD turion X2 dual-core mobile rm-74 that clocks at 2.20ghz so is the processor compatible with more then 4gb of ram or will I have to upgrade my operating system too? I’m also going to upgrade my processor too.

@TheMax300ful – Well, most netbooks are designed the same as a notebook, with the exception of a few. Some of them require the entire the system be dismantled to upgrade. For more specific instruction for a certain system, I would suggest hitting the manufacturer’s support site.

@edgetechcorp – Well, when I bought it description said it had 2GB of RAMs and I could expand RAM memorory to 4 GB, so probably I need to check does it have free slots at all or I can put 2 x 2 GB modules

@mrmistercharles – Your system has a 4GB max, but since it typically ships with a 32-Bit OS, your system will only be using about 3-3.25GB of the 4GB total. Adding RAM will indeed allow you to run your games more smoothly and add a few FPS. It’s also possible that you may be able to up the settings in your game a bit and not take a performance hit.

@PilypazZz – You system will come configured with a 2x1GB configuration. You will need to purchase 2GB modules to replace the current 1GB modules installed. Also, make sure that you purchase SODIMM’s. This is a Small Outline DIMM, for a notebook.

what is the maximum ram my laptop can be upgraded to? its a compaq presario v3709tx, running on Win7 32bit. what will upgrading my ram do? will it make my games run smoother and faster? also would i be able to run my games with better graphics?

@12enma12 – RAM, or Random Access Memory, is a form of computer data storage. Today, it takes the form of integrated circuits that allow stored data to be accessed in any order (i.e., at random). “Random” refers to the idea that any piece of data can be returned in a constant time, regardless of its physical location and whether or not it is related to the previous piece of data.
